Earl Seymour was born on the family farm in Prole, Iowa, December 10, 1938. He took a job at Armstrong Tire Company in Des Moines in 1964, where he worked as a stocker, tread hauler, and tire builder. He held several offices in Local 164 before being elected president. Seymour served as president from 1983-89 and 1992-1995. After his third term as president ended he went to work on the State of Iowa Employment Appeals Board in 1995.
